LAKE CITY, Tenn. — The fourth- and fifth-grade students at Lake City Elementary in Rocky Top TN, are excited to announce they are participating in an inter-class recycling competition. The challenge will see each class develop and present their best idea for a school-wide recycling project that will both benefit our local community and raise awareness about the importance of recycling.

This project is a fantastic opportunity for our students to engage in real-world problem-solving and demonstrate environmental leadership. The competition is designed to:
- Encourage innovative thinking: Students will brainstorm creative and impactful ways to reduce waste, from repurposing materials to organizing collection drives.
- Support the community:The winning idea will be implemented to help our local area. This allows students to take pride in making a tangible difference.
- Educate the entire student body: The fourth-graders will teach the rest of the school why recycling is so important, covering topics like natural resource conservation, landfill reduction, and protecting wildlife.
Classes will present their proposals to a panel of judges, and the winning project will be put into action this semester. We invite everyone in our Rocky Top community to follow our progress and support our students as they work to create a more sustainable future.
