Have you started wondering when and where the next Mobile Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event in your area will be hosted? Wait no further the Division of Solid Waste Management is contacting you with our Mobile Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event (HHWCE) Schedule for 2022. We recommend conducting an inventory of your household chemicals, regarding their content and labeling.  The upcoming events will begin in the early spring and run through late summer. Collection services are open to all Tennessee residents; the attendance is not restricted only to county residents.

Attention Small Business Owners: Businesses that generate no more than 220 pounds of hazardous waste or 2.2 pounds of acutely hazardous waste per month are "Very Small Quantity Generators" or VSQGs. These guidelines are set out in the Code of Federal Regulations 40 CFR 265.201. The VSQG program in the TDEC supported Household Hazardous Waste Program allows qualifying generators to transport their hazardous wastes to any one of the mobile collection events scheduled throughout the State. Individual VSQGs choose the event in which they participate event, you need to schedule with Clean Harbors Environmental Services. VSQC materials should be in leakproof containers when transported to mobile HHW events that have been coordinated with Clean Harbors. Quantities should be less than 1000 pounds to avoid complicated DOT regulations. If company vehicles are available, they should be used to avoid spills and damage to personal vehicles. For additional question contact Clean Harbors or TDEC Technical assistance staff. To contact Clean Harbors Environmental Services at 615-643-3170 or email TNCESQG@cleanharbors.com
